Mexico

For the sake of explaining the pics, journal writing, and questions about our trip here goes; we went to San Carlos, Mexico at the end of June.  It was a 21 hour trip EACH way and we drove it in our little Honda Civic.  Hence the reason I haven't really wanted to revisit the topic!  Just kidding.  The kids were actually unexpectedly good.  We drove to Benson, AZ the first day arriving at about 2:30 a.m. Texas time to have the kids wake up about 5 hours later.  Yeah, it was great.  Anyways, from there we met up with our friends (the Woods) in Nogales.  From there we caravaned down to San Carlos (about 6 hours from the AZ/Mexico border).  Kel actually served his mission in Montana with Trent back in the day and we also used to double date with them before we were married.  And since then, we have vacationed together 3 times out of 4 years and had 4 kids between us.  OK, so that is the history behind the people that we went with.  Back to the trip (I am so very easily distracted).  This was our second time to their parents condo and boy were we glad to be out of our little holding cell that we had occupied for the past couple of days.  Anyways, over the course of the week we pretty much swam, swam, swam, swam, and basically swam.  We did a little exploring at some little shops and also went to a couple of restaurants.  The kiddos loved it and it was very relaxing I must say.  Oh yeah, so on our way back we had a few little annoying blips.  First, we got searched at the border.  (Side note, this always happens to us!  Airports, leaving Mexico, going into Mexico.  Honestly, who gets searched going into Mexico?!  Oh, the McKendricks do!)  We must look the type.  Then once we reach TX we get pulled over 4 flippin' times for not having a front license plate on our car (not required in AZ, but apparently you Texans are very adamant about this law!!)  It was just funny though, because every time we would get pulled over we would hand over the stack of warnings that we already had and each officer would still continue to add another one as if we didn't get that we are supposed to have a front license plate!  Anyways, that's all:)

  2. Did you get a plate on the front yet?? :) I drove around without a front plate for 9 months and didn't get pulled over once! Of course the car was not registered here, either, and I didn't have my Texas DL so it's a good thing I didn't!

Relaxing by the beach vacations are the best!

  3. Yeah, it was fun Shahna. And no we didn't put a front plate on because we sold it when we got home. Good thing you didn't switch it out!
