Thanksgiving Weekend 2008

Thanksgiving weekend is about to come to a close and it makes me even more excited for Christmas. (These pics are actually going from Saturday backwards.) On Thursday Kel played some flag football with some guys from the ward and I have been hearing how sore his arm is because of it all weekend! He really does enjoy it though. As he is having a gay old time, I am at home scrambling to get the kids, myself, the food and other miscellaneous things together for our 3 and a half hour trip to Oklahoma City. Kelly's Aunt Holly and Uncle Bruce live almost right next door to the temple there. It was a lot of fun and even though we traveled for 7 hours total on Thanksgiving day, it didn't really seem like it was that long. On Friday we went to McKinney's "Dickens of a Christmas." It was pretty neat. They had that one Frank Sinatra guy there from "America's Got Talent" performing. On Saturday we went to "Christmas in the Country." It is the same place that we go every year at Halloween (Flower Mound Pumpkin Patch). It wasn't nearly as big and elaborate as the Halloween one, but the kids still had fun. They had free bounce houses, sleigh rides (though I didn't see any running that night), and playground equipment. They also had a Christmas Tree lot. Unfortunately, the trees were REALLY expensive, so we ended up getting our tree at good old reliable Wal-Mart.

First Kiss

Are you kidding me?! 3? Is this really when this stuff happens? Aubryn has been liking this boy named Tyler is her class. Apparently, he is an older man (5) and is also a lady's man (word of a motha). It's always, Tyler did this, and Tyler did that, and Tyler is 5. Then yesterday after school it was a joyful exclamation of "Tyler gave me a kiss on my cheek!" What?! Why? How? When? I want all the details and yet don't want to spotlight the "deed" too much. I thought it was so incredibly cute, but sometimes it makes me a little sad to know that she is not my little baby girl anymore. Then upon seeing her aunt later that day the first thing she triumphantly exclaims is, "Tyler gave me a kiss on my face!" Why does she think that this is such a big deal?! I didn't know that she knew anything about kisses between boys and girls. She and her brother give each other kisses all the time and there are no excited outbursts. Hm... maybe we should keep a closer eye on this girl? :)

This picture just reminded me of the other day when I was in the kitchen and I overheard Kel singing "My Buddy, My Buddy" (remember that old doll commercial?) to Beckham as they were laying on our bed. I didn't know whether to laugh or cry when I heard him!
He is such a total and complete kid at heart. For example, last Wednesday for mutual he and the boys went swimming. He comes limping inside afterwards due to the fact that they were have belly flop contests the whole time! Front and backwards, what an idiot!

Giddy Up!

We Do Not Remember Days, We Remember Moments

Kids will say and do the cutest dang things. I have to note a few things down that I actually remember so that I can AlWaYs remember my sweet children's personalities. I just love the age of sweet innocence. A couple of weeks ago my blow dryer broke so Aubryn lugged the big box fan into my bathroom so that I could blow dry my hair. So thoughtful :) Then one day when I was washing her in the bath tub I told her to stand up, she then stood, saluted, and said "aye, aye captain!" I had never said or heard her say that before. Very cute. Tonight while eating my super gourmet dinner of pancakes she told me, "mom, this dinner is GREAT!" And it wasn't a cheesy fake "Tony the Tiger" great, but a really thoughtful appreciative great. Oh, so many more precious moments but that's all that really comes to mind right now.

Beckham......Beckham is a handful, but so sweet and sensitive. As all kids, he also does some pretty cute stuff too. OK, can we say OBSESSED with BALLS! When he wakes up in the morning, one of the first words, if not the first word I hear in the monitor are either, "ball, ball" or "basketball"! And of course he speaks in the cutest little baby voice so that I cannot bear to leave him in his crib any longer. OK, I really can bear to, but if I was a better mom I would be running to smother him with hugs and kisses the second his voice started oozing with cuteness! Secondly, the very first body part that he learned was belly button. He LOVES to lift up his shirt and tell everybody the name in of course, the cutest little Beckham voice.

I feel so very grateful to be entrusted with these two wonderful little spirits. I am so grateful for their mental and physical health. I often wonder why I am so lucky to be so blessed! I love you so much Aubryn and Beckham. Always remember that.

Happy 25th Birthday to my baby brother Vance! So sorry that I only have some of your mish pics on my computer. Oh yeah, and that your bday was yesterday. I am so proud of you and happy and super excited for baby number 1 to come in January!

Full Of Hot Air

The title is meant for the last pic, but I guess depending on who you asked (Kel's parents back in the day) it could apply to a couple of pics here :) I have been totally obsessing over the weather that we have been having. I LOVE the outdoors. I literally have been trying to soak up every spare second outside before the weather turns cold. We have been doing a lot of biking lately. Aubryn is waving her hand off the back of Kel's bike as to not forget her and Beck is cute as ever wearing a pretty pink helmet! Last week when we got home there were several hot air balloons over our house. The kids loved it. It was pretty cool to see. I have to say though, that if I were to ever pay the money to do that, it would have to be over something pretty. A bunch of rooftops isn't my ideal choice of scenery!
