Tonight Is The Night

After a fruitless search for Beckham's pacifier tonight I had to put him to bed without it. He's 21 months. Bryn was about this age when I took it from her too. I did that ever so slowly though and she wasn't as reliant as he is. Tonight is going to be BAD! I lay him down. He is OK. I start writing this post and then the Sisters stop by to say their goodbyes. Sister Hokanson is leaving (I heart those girls SO much!) and we are hoping that she will be transfered back before she goes home in October. They leave and I come back to finish writing. Hmm... no noises. Beckham has actually gone to bed for the very first time without his pacifier! Yea! I just hope that I find the missing pascis tomorrow before he does! Wish me luck!

  1. Come now Juli. You know full well grandma was in there with him rocking his dear little heart to sleep. Hugs and kisses my big brave grandbaby boy.

  2. Wow! I hope he stays asleep. I just have to mention my memories of Aubryn taking her pacifier out of her mouth to laugh and then sticking it back in. So cute!

  3. That is really funny! I didn't remember that! Well, a quick update on the pasci...slept until about 8 a.m. and has been asking for it off and on since he got up. Not a big deal though, I just tell him that we can't find it. I really hope I find the missing two before he does!

  4. Yea, good luck with that one. Mom's just don't have what it takes to beat them to it. At least I never did. Miss Juli and 3 years old with a pasci. Just kidding. Or am I.

  5. Wow! I had the exact same experience with Anna. I was expecting her to cry all night long. She asked for it as I put her in her crib. I told her she didn't need it and she never asked for it again. Of course, a few months later she stole a binky from a newborn, but just for a second to try it out. :)

  6. Good Luck!!! I am so worried to take Adley's away from her. The other day she threw a 15 min tantrum wanting her pacifier and 15min later I figured it out. I didnt have to go through this with Tate so this is all new territory for me. Any tips?

  7. I thought that we would have a harder time with him. For me it seems to end up this way. I think that it will be really hard for changes like these for my kids and than it just isn't. Sometimes I think it is more of a crutch for me than for them. My friend said that she used the broken method for her. I was going to do that with Beck. Basically, once they know the concept of broken you cut the end off of all of the pacifiers. They try to suck on it and can't. They get discouraged and chuck it in theory. Good luck!
